The Science
Endosure’s Breakthrough
The company that have made this revolutionary breakthrough are called Endosure. EndoSure is licensed by the MHRA and carries a CE mark for clinical use in the UK and Europe. Despite this, the EndoSure device continues to undergo extensive evaluation in the US, UK, and Europe through several ongoing studies.
They are based in the USA, and the science is relatively simple…
Endometriosis is an inflammatory condition where the endometrial tissue produces various inflammatory mediators, including the potent prostaglandins PGE2 and PGF-2𝛼
Prostaglandins are absorbed into the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body, exerting their effects on various tissues. These mediators directly impact the gut, regardless of the location of the endometriosis, causing recognizable changes in the gut’s electrical signals.
EndoSure’s tricorder utilises unique technology to record electrical signals from the muscles of the small intestine. It generates a trace known as an EVG, or electroviscerogram, similar to an ECG, or electrocardiogram, for heart muscles. The prostaglandins PGE-2 and PGF-2𝛼 cause changes in intestinal motility, resulting in altered electrical activity.
The tricorder detects the electrical activity, decodes it, and converts it into a visible trace with a unique fingerprint characteristic of endometriosis. It utilizes sophisticated AI clinical decision support software to diagnose endometriosis based on these myo-electric signals.
A 30-minute recording of intestinal myo-electrical pulses after drinking a large volume of water is all that’s needed to establish the diagnosis. This technology, which has been around since the late 1990s and was first published in 1998, gained significant recognition in 2022. Dr. Noar, one of EndoSure’s founders, presented the first paper demonstrating the characteristic EVG changes caused by endometriosis at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy meeting.
